Annual events hosted by the Urban League
A little bit about our big stuff
Every year, the Urban League of Kansas hosts or participates in many types of events throughout the city of Wichita. We show our support for other causes by attending fundraisers for other organizations and by giving in-kind help. We host our own fundraisers and events to acknowledge those who give their financial support and time to help the Urban League advance the cause of helping those who need it, and to give our stakeholders a chance to interact with us face-to-face.
Annual Business Luncheon
(Botanica-Wichita, KS) The annual luncheon is a business meeting of members and supporters held annually in February. The event gives us a chance to present a new slate of officers and trustees, review a year-end financial report, and give a presentation of the auxiliary reports of the Guild and Urban Professionals of Wichita. Awards are also presented in the following categories: Business Partner of the Year, Collaborative Partner of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Trustee of the Year, Faith-Based Partner of the Year, and the Burney/Burns Exemplary Service Award.
Equal Opportunity Day Dinner
(Hyatt Regency-Wichita, KS) The Urban League of Kansas hosts an annual Equal Opportunity Day Award Dinner gala not only as a fund-raising opportunity for this local affiliate of the National Urban League, but also as a community-wide celebration. We celebrate change, new opportunities, and diversity.
The Urban League of Kansas’ Board of Trustees honors a company with an “Equal Opportunity Corporate Award”. With this award, we shine the spotlight on a corporation that exemplifies a truly inclusive, diverse work environment for its employees.
Urban League Awards Day
(Dellrose United Methodist Church-Wichita, KS) The Urban League Awards Day recognizes program participants' achievements and acknowledges the community partners who support the programs of the Urban League.
Statewide Diversity Job Fair
(Century II-Wichita, KS) The Urban League of Kansas partners with The Wichita Eagle and Quantum Expositions to invite companies to participate in one of the largest job fairs in the state of Kansas. This diversity job fair is promoted across the state with advertising including newspaper, radio, television, posters, and internet awareness. The event is free to the public and offers an opportunity for job seekers and employers to meet face-to-face.
